6 Easy Steps to Painting Your House

One of the simplest and best ways to not only improve the look of your home but the value as well is painting. Even though is seems easy, it is by far one of the best improvements you can do to your home. In this economoy, anything that is in your control like improving the value of your house is worth doing.

So here is the 6 simple steps to painting your house right the first time.  These steps come from my experience in being a painters San Diego.   So it should be useful and helpful for doing the job right.

Owning a painting San Diego company has helped me prove these steps over and over again.  So follow these steps and witness your home turn into a beautiful home and it’s value improve greatly.

First step is surface preparation.  Unless your home has been through some sort of disaster, there won’t be too much preparation to worry about.  All you have to do is make sure it is smooth and sanded if necessary.

Second step in the process is priming.  This is an easy step and the object is to make sure the primer you use is tinted as close as possible to the finish color.  This makes the job of applying the finish color much easier.

Third step is to prepare the surface once more.  This step is used to make sure you haven’t missed anything from the first go around.  Things such as nail holes, or any other dents or blemishes in the wall.  You will use a drywall compound to fill in any of those holes.

Fourth step is to put on that first coat of paint.  In this step you are going to want to paint one wall surface at a time.

Fifth step is going to be another surface preparation type of step.  You are performing this step to double check the surface one more time so to ensure that the surface is smooth before you put on that last coat of paint.  So again, any blemishes you discover can be fixed easily with a drywall compound.

Final step is to apply the second coat of paint.  This is the best part because now you will see everything come together.  So again, you are going to be painting one surface wall at time.  Ensure that the coat is evenly distributed.

Follow all these six steps and you will be pleased with the outcome of your home improvement.  A simple coat of paint can change a drab room into a beautiful addition.

With the low cost it takes to do a simple paint job of a room, the return on investment is huge.  I have seen it firsthand add thousands to the value of the home in my San Diego painting company.   This simple house painting job has the possibility of adding tens of thousands of dollars in what your house is worth.

Painting Your House is not an Expense

In this day and age of a bad economy most people are cutting back on expenses. One of the big things they won’t do is home improvements.

In a good economy improvements to the house abounds. Contractors are busy and happy with all the work. But when the economy goes south, you feel it in businesses that are in contracting.

But I would like to mention that when you paint your house in this economy, it is actually a great use of your money.  I should know living in San Diego where you can definitely feel the housing slump, painting San Diego houses definitely helps.

Let’s consider some reasons why. Two things to think about are if you are selling your house or if you are keeping your house.

If you plan to sell the house, painting your house is a wise economic move. With the crash of the housing market, and falling values of homes, most homes won’t sell fast. The ones that are going to sell fast are the ones that look good. Buyers are more picky now and usually wait for something they really like.

Well if you invest in hiring a painter, this will actually not only improve the value of your home it also makes it look better.A home that is beautiful and clean will definitely sell a lot faster than a house with no improvements.

So by hiring a professional painter to paint your house inside and out, that expense is really a good investment.

Now if you don’t have any plans on selling, what are the benefits of painting? Homeowners all over usually want a nice place that they live in.  In an economy where there is less money to spend, painting is usually the least expensive home improvement
I have seen this first hand as a painter San Diego.

A new coat of paint will make your house look just like new. Do it for the outside of your house as well as the inside and you have a more pleasant place to live.

When you can’t afford to spend on that room addition painting is a great option.

When a remodel of the kitchen or bathroom is not affordable, a fresh coat of paint makes that room look like new.

In these bad economic times, most of the time you aren’t going to be able to do what you want with your home.  Hiring painters San Diego contractors gives you that flexibility to still improve your home with little costs.

House Painting To Do List

The most popular project for a lot of homeowners
is painting their home.  A lot of people enjoy do it yourself projects around the house.  To them, painting seems like an easy enough task.

If that is you, I would like to offer as a Painter in San Diego.Hopefully my years of experience will prevent disasters and messes to occur when you do a project like house painting.

First, you want to make sure the correct type of paint is chosen with the right paint color. This sounds like it is obvious, but a newbie painter may not know there is a difference in paints between exterior vs. paint for the inside of the house.  Thankfully a lot of home improvement companies have helpful staff to help you out, just like my staff of my San Diego painting company.

Second thing to do is paint preparation.Surprisingly, one of the most important part of the paint job is not the actual painting but the preparation of the painting.

The time you invest in properly preparing will show in the quality of your paint and painting job.

So you have to have the room you are going to paint in cleaned out.A room that is cleared makes it real easy to do a good job of painting.

Also, when you prepare, make sure the surface is clean.  Don’t think just because you are going to paint over everything, the paint will cover it all.A wall that is dirty with stains and other dirt, makes it harder for the paint to cover.  This will save you time and money when it is clean because you will need less coats of paint.

Third you will need sandpaper.Sandpaper will help you smooth out surfaces that are rough which lets you apply a smooth coat of paint.

Fourth, you will want to have and use a caulk gun.  All walls are not perfect. It could have cracks on the wood base or trim.A caulking gun will help cover things up and make the surface smooth.

As you can see, I provided these tips with the goal of making your paint job go smooth. It helps get rid of the hassles associated with things being in the way.Or having to fix a wall that has blemishes and would need to be painted over.  All designed to make your job easier.

Follow these tips and you will not only be happy with the outcome but this will add some value to your home.

Now if you feel maybe this is a bit much to tackle, especially when you consider the value of your home being on the line. Give your local painting San Diego company a call.
